It’s a boy!

There’s a new member of the Royal Family

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has arrived! The royal baby, son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, was born one month ago at 5.26 am on 6th May 2019.

Although seventh in line to the throne and able from birth to be called the Earl of Dumbarton or a Lord, the proud parents have decided not to give him a title. Is this a sign that Harry and Meghan want their son to have a more ordinary life with less formality than his father?

The names chosen by the couple, who wed on 19 May 2018, are not the traditional for the royal family. Archie, sometimes short for ‘Archibald’ means ‘bold’ or ‘brave’. Harrison comes from the fact that the little boy is Harry’s son.

There were smiles all round as Archie was introduced to his grandparents Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh and Doria Ragland. Harry’s brother, the Prince of Wales, said welcome “to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”

Reflecting on the first few days of little Archie’s life Meghan said: “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”
