The Obamas take a trip to London

This week Sasha and Malia Obama kicked off their 13-week summer holiday with a trip to London. Their Mum, Michelle, brought them on the trip, while their Dad, President Obama, had to stay in America to carry out his Presidential duties.

Sasha, Malia and their Mum experienced London as typical tourists. They ate fish and chips in a pub, visited Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament, watched a musical (The Lion King) and hit the shops on Bond Street.

There were just a few things that set the Obamas’ visit apart from most ordinary tourists’ visits. They were accompanied by an entourage of 12, travelled in a bullet-proof car and were treated like royalty on a private tour of Westminster Abbey.

Despite all the special treatment, the girls seem to have stayed grounded. Cintia Pinto, a waitress in the pub where Sasha and Malia tucked in to fish and chips, says, “The girls were so sweet and polite. They said ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ so many times.”

Another waitress in the pub, Adriana Spanova, added, “It wouldn’t be right to say how much they tipped but let’s say everyone in the room had a lovely night.”
